Truth-Telling, for all of us

In the spirit of the theme of 2022 NAIDOC week, Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!, Neane Carter wrote an article that focuses on truth-telling, titled Truth and Healing. The article was first published in the July 2022 edition of the Law Institute of Victoria Journal.

Neane offers her writing to the story of Guka (grandmother), a Dja Dja Wurrung and Yorta Yorta elder, in a close look at history, "a history that has been disregarded and denied for many years." The process of truth-telling applies to everyone, Neane says, we must all face up to history and heal together too.

"You are a part of this history, you are not severable from it, but you are also a part of our future."
