Introducing our legal interns for this winter!

Terri Janke and Company has teamed up with The Aurora Project and CareerTrackers to host legal interns. This winter, we are hosting three law students to give them some hands-on experience in the workplace. Our interns will be introduced to our systems, work ethic and community role throughout their time with us

.

You might see the interns around over the next few weeks, so be sure to say hello while they’re here.

 

 

 

Astrid Gillam

 

Astrid is currently completing a Bachelor of Laws and Commerce at the University of Adelaide, having commenced in 2014. She has previously studied in Sweden and China and has worked as a law clerk in South Australia, assisting in a range of legal areas. Astrid volunteers at the Refugee Advocacy Service of South Australia and is a keen netball player.

 

Joanna Bielby

 

Joanna Bielby has recently completed her undergraduate degree in Laws (Honours)/Behavioural Science (Psychology) at the Queensland University of Technology. She is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Queensland University of Technology.

 

Joanna is currently working as an intern at Terri Janke and Company through the Aurora Internship Program. She is helping on matters involving advice, research and report drafting in areas of intellectual property law and Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP).

 

Joanna has previous experience assisting Native Title Barristers and has been involved in community projects and with the Justice Department in the Indigenous community of Cherbourg in Queensland. On the weekends she can be found playing soccer and exploring the outdoors.

 

Rachel Durmush

 

Rachel is a Weilwan Woman from the Gomeroi nation. Rachel is currently in her 3rd year at the University of Sydney studying a Bachelor of Law/Arts. Previously Rachel interned and worked as a paralegal at Westpac in both Regulatory Investigations and Business Banking- Retail Business Banking areas. Recently, Rachel has volunteered at the Aboriginal Legal Service assisting Solicitors in Court and on matters. When graduated and admitted as a Solicitor Rachel hopes to work in the Indigenous Community
