Expertise
Tyrone is a solicitor at Terri Janke and Company. Previously he has worked at national law firms, Gilbert + Tobin and MinterEllison, and the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. Tyrone is passionate about promoting self-determination for First Nations communities by developing frameworks to help support the protection and empowerment of ICIP. He has expansive experience on working with First Nations peoples on a broad spectrum of areas of law across the community and commercial spaces.
Experience
Tyrone was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in August 2022 and has experience working in corporate governance, anti-discrimination, environment, cultural heritage, and dispute resolution.He graduated from the University of New South Wales with a dual degree in Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Indigenous Studies) and Bachelor of Laws.
Recent projects
Advancing the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through ICIP;
Providing governance advice, developing rule books and constitutions;
Planning and delivering ICIP workshops;
Drafting ICIP protocols; and
Strengthening contractual arrangements for First Nations organisations.
Community
Tyrone is a proud Dharawal, Dharug, Wailwan, Yuin, Gunai Kurnai and Dja Dja Wurrung man from La Perouse on Bidjigal Country in Sydney. Tyrone enjoys being on Country, particularly by the beach where he feels most at home. In his free time, Tyrone enjoys staying active by going to the gym, running and swimming. He also enjoys going to the cinema and watching the latest movies.
