Expertise

Sarah is a Paralegal at Terri Janke and Company, where she supports the team through her strong legal research and analytical skills. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University.


Sarah approaches her work with empathy and respect, valuing trust, clear communication and understanding. She is committed to ensuring legal processes are accessible, culturally informed and grounded in the lived experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Experience

Sarah has experience in Indigenous legal advocacy, policy and education. She has been involved in international and domestic efforts to advancing Indigenous rights, including participating in the 18thSession of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. She has also facilitated community workshops on governance, treaty-making and mining rehabilitation, aimed at empowering Indigenous communities to navigate complex legal environments.


Sarah’s Honour’s thesis, which received a High Distinction, examined the use of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art as evidence in native title determinations, exploring how cultural expression is understood and interpreted within legal processes.


Community

Sarah is a proud descendant of the Barabinja and Ngiyampaa peoples. Her interest in ICIP and Indigenous governance is grounded in her commitment to supporting future generations to continue standing strong in culture. In her spare time, you can find Sarah experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes, bouldering, playing netball with friends and bushwalking.
