Expertise

Tyson is a solicitor at Terri Janke and Company. Previously he was a graduate at an international law firm. Tyson is passionate about First Nations participation in the Australian corporate sector to enhance self-determination in First Nations communities. He has experience on research protocols involving First Nations people including ICIP.

Experience

Tyson was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in December 2023 and has experience working in corporate mergers and acquisitions (public and private), corporate and board governance and transaction reports. He graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Arts and completed the Juris Doctor. Tyson has a forthcoming journal article with LexisNexis on Holding corporations to account for their supplier diversity commitments in reconciliation action plans. He has presented on his journal article.

  • Author, Holding corporations to account for their supplier diversity commitments in reconciliation action plans, Australian Journal of Corporate Law (forthcoming);

  • Presenter, Society of Corporate Law Academics 2025 Conference, Syndey NSW;

  • Advancing the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through ICIP;

  • Providing governance advice, developing rule books and constitutions;

  • Planning and delivering ICIP workshops;

  • Drafting ICIP protocols; and

  • Strengthening contractual arrangements for First Nations organisations.


Community

Tyson is a proud Kariyarra and Bardi man from the Pilbara town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. He currently lives and works in Perth on Whadjuk Noongar Country. Tyson tries to go home to Port Hedland to visit family and to go fishing. In his free time, Tyson is a marathon runner and in 2024 he completed the London Marathon. In summer, Tyson takes part in the Rottnest Channel Swim and in 2025 he completed his first solo swim to Wadjemup in seven and half hours.
